Our sister centre Namkha Dzong Orgyen Khandro Ling in Bédar (Almería, Spain) was badly hit in July 2026 by the large wildfire that swept over the mountains from Los Gallardos. Since 2010, Namkha Dzong has been the main retreat facility of the Rigdzin Community, welcoming practitioners from all over Europe for extended retreats and teachings.
The fire destroyed the ground-floor kitchen, the sangha dining room, Wangchen's room, the toilets, and the showers. The retreat caves nearby were thankfully spared, and the centre's two cats were found safe when the caretakers returned on 12 July.
Insurance covers only part of the real cost of restoration. A GoFundMe campaign has therefore been started by Andres Larrain, board member of the Rigdzin Community Foundation, to close that gap so repairs can begin without delay. The funds will restore water and electricity and rebuild the essential spaces. By now, over €34,000 of the €60,000 goal has been raised through 177 donations.
