Tsok

Tsok

On the 10th of every month in the Tibetan Lunar Calendar, it is Guru Rinpoche Day and on the 25th, it is Dakini Day. On these special days we do Tsok offering. It is important to do Tsok as a way of showing gratitude, to accumulate merit and to purify any breaches of samaya between guru and student and among each other as students. Offering For those of you who are new at this, here is what you bring to a tsok. Tsok offering is a Vajrayana practice that goes beyond what our conventional mind believes to be good and bad. So there is no negotiation or discussion possible on this matter. The following ingredients must at least be present in a Tsok: Food including sweets Meat (any kind including fish) Alcohol (any type) For the rest it is up to you to chose what to offer. We offer things that you feel is delicious: fruits, vegetables, nuts, cookies, sweets, chocolate, salty foods, boiled eggs, bread, cheese, beer, limonade, fristi, etc. Also, offering of flowers is possible. We need to take time to set up the Tsok in a pretty way. Most of the Tsok will be unpacked and organised on plates and bowls to make it all look inviting. It is a good idea to bring some Tupperware or plastic bags in which you can carry tsok home with you after it is distributed. If you are wondering how much you need to spend on the offerings, it is really entirely up to you. You can spend €5 or €50, it is depends on your wish and capability. There is no judgement in that. In the end the offering is made as a sangha together and in our minds it encompasses billions of universes full of offerings, not just what we have on the table ;) Costs The Tsok is a community activity and it is free of charge. We welcome all to join, even if you are coming for the first time or if you like to bring someone else with you.
